A SMALL STEP FOR YOU, A BIG STEP FOR YOUR GUITAR PLAYING
Tuition shaped around you
A clearer and more efficient way to improve
One-to-one guitar lessons offer a more personalised and intensive way to learn. Instead of following a generic syllabus, each lesson begins with where your playing and understanding are now and what will make the greatest difference next.
You will receive focused guidance suited to your goals, experience and way of learning. Technical problems can be examined properly, musical ideas can be explored in depth and your practice can be directed towards results that matter to you.
Whether you are beginning carefully, returning to the guitar or trying to overcome limitations that have followed you for years, you will leave each lesson with a clearer understanding of what to work on, how to work on it and why it matters.
Are these lessons right for you?
For thoughtful players at every stage
These lessons are particularly suited to adults who want more than a collection of exercises or pieces to copy.
You may be:
- Beginning the guitar and wanting to build reliable foundations from the outset.
- Returning after time away and looking for a structured way back into playing.
- Teaching yourself through books, apps
- Struggling with tension, inconsistency or a technique that no longer supports the music you want to play.
- Developing classical or fingerstyle repertoire and wanting greater control, tone and expression.
- An experienced player looking for a deeper understanding of technique, interpretation or practice.
You do not need previous classical training or a particular grade. What matters is curiosity, a willingness to practise and an interest in understanding your instrument properly.
What will we work on?
Technique, musicianship and practice working together
Your lessons can draw on every part of playing needed to support your musical goals, including:
- Efficient movement based on the biomechanics and geometry of the hands.
- Right-hand control, tone production and fingerstyle technique.
- Left-hand organisation, coordination and freedom from unnecessary tension.
- Classical and fingerstyle repertoire chosen around your interests and development.
- Rhythm, phrasing, interpretation and musical expression.
- Practice methods that make better use of your available time.
- The musical and acoustic reasons behind technical choices.
- Theory and fretboard understanding taught in direct relation to the music you play.
- Preparation for performances, recordings or personal musical projects.
Technique is never treated as an end in itself. Its purpose is to give you the control and confidence to express the music as you intend.
